Winter Fly Fishing at North Fork Ranch in Colorado

Fly fishing in Colorado is a year around sport!  While most fly fishermen hang up their boots for winter and start tying flies, we are fortunate to have great flows along the North Fork of the South Platte River right now.  Fly fishing this time of year is not different than going skiing or hunting. If you prepare for the elements you are ready for an amazing experience on the river. It is about layers. Be ready for a cold start to the day but also be ready to peel layers off as the day warms up. We recommend warm socks, long underwear, a few layers on top, gloves and a warm hant. We will provide extra layers if you need them. We will provide hand warmers packs. And just like if you are skiing, if you get cold … you find a cozy fire to warm up to. At North Fork Ranch we will always have the pot belly stove roaring and ready to warm you up!

One of the things that makes the North Fork of the South Platte River special is the tailwater effects from the Roberts Tunnel. Some winters we see the river freeze, but some years we see perfect water conditions that keep the river free of ice and the fish thrive all winter long. During this "offseason" we offer a discounted rate to go along with our standard fishing program.  It is a great time of year to learn a new hobby at an affordable price or work on improving your already established skills.  The seasonably low and clear water leads to some incredible sight fishing opportunities and a chance to go hunting for a trophy! The prices below are for private water fishing at North Fork Ranch.  As always, we also offer public water guided fishing.  Do not hesitate to call us with any inquires on this unique deal!
